Silent Retreat

September 10-13th, 2026

A 4-day, 3-night silent retreat in the Missouri Ozarks for rest, reflection, and nervous system reset.

A dirt trail winding through a forest with trees showing fall foliage in yellows, oranges, reds, and greens, under a clear blue sky.

“All of humanity’s problems stem from man’s inability to sit quietly in a room alone.”
— Blaise Pascal

We’ll gather for 4 days in a nature-immersed setting, with long stretches of silence, shared silent meals, gentle movement, and guided experiences that support rest and awareness.

Silence here isn’t about discipline or deprivation. It’s an invitation to listen more closely, to your body, your nervous system, and what’s already present.

Silence gives the nervous system a chance to settle.

Without the constant need to speak, explain, or perform, many people notice a softening: physically, emotionally, and mentally.

You don’t come to silence to “get better.”
You come to notice what’s already here.

A cozy bedroom with two single beds, patterned bedspreads, a table lamp, and artwork on light blue walls. Contains a window with blinds, a decorative chair, and a large plant near the window.
Front porch with hanging ferns, rocking chairs, and cushioned wicker chairs.
A rustic bedroom with four wooden bunk beds, three on the right and one on the left, each with plaid bedding. A window behind the left bunk beds lets in natural light. A small, dark green nightstand with a white lamp, clock, and books is between the beds against a green wall with wooden paneling at the bottom. A framed painting of a house hangs above the nightstand. A beige rug covers part of the wooden floor, and a small red plaid stool is in the corner near the right side of the room.

Our retreat is designed to support quiet, simplicity, and shared experience. Accommodations are comfortable and thoughtfully arranged within a communal setting.

Sleeping Spaces

Participants stay in shared rooms within the retreat space.

Each shared room includes individual sleeping areas with dividers, offering personal space while remaining part of a communal environment.

Because this is a silent retreat, conversation is not part of the experience, even in shared rooms. Many participants find that silence itself creates a surprising sense of privacy and ease.

Room selection is first come, first served at the time of registration. If you have specific questions or would like help thinking through options, you’re always welcome to reach out during the reservation process.

    • You’re curious about silence

    • You feel drawn to nature, simplicity, and inward listening

    • You’re open to not knowing exactly what might arise

    • You crave space for quietude

    • are looking for teaching or discussion

    • want a steady stream of activity

    • are currently in acute crisis and need intensive support

  • No. This retreat is not a sobriety or recovery retreat.

While it’s hosted by Sober Sisters in St. Louis and held in an alcohol-free environment, the intention of this retreat is silence, rest, and awareness; not behavior change around alcohol.

People come with many different relationships to alcohol, and none are asked to identify or participate in recovery-oriented conversations.

  • Silence will be held for most of the retreat, including meals and shared spaces.

There will be gentle guidance at the beginning, clear markers for when silence begins and ends, and opportunities to ask practical questions if needed. You don’t need prior experience with silence.

  • No experience is required.

This retreat is designed for people who are curious about silence, whether it’s new to you or something you’ve explored before.

  • All meals during the retreat are thoughtfully prepared and included.

Meals are vegetarian at minimum, with simple options built in to accommodate vegan and/or gluten-free preferences. We can also accommodate most common food allergies, including corn and soy.

Prior to the retreat, you’ll receive a form where you can share any dietary restrictions or allergies so we can plan accordingly.

If someone has a more uncommon restriction that would be difficult to accommodate without significantly altering the shared meals (for example, oil-free), we may suggest bringing a few supplemental items to ensure you feel well cared for.

You are always welcome to bring additional snacks or specialty items for your own comfort.

Our intention is for you to feel nourished, supported, and at ease throughout the weekend.

  • This retreat requires a minimum of 8 participants to run. In the unlikely event this minimum is not met, all registrations will be fully refunded by June 1st, 2026.

  • Not at all.

While Sober Sisters STL began as a local gathering space here in St. Louis, this retreat (and many of our offerings) are open to women from anywhere.

If you feel drawn to the experience, whether you live five minutes away or five states away, you are welcome.

We’d love to have you, wherever you’re coming from.

  • This retreat was created as a space for women to gather intentionally. There’s something powerful about women sitting together in shared experience, especially around themes like identity, midlife and relationships.

For this retreat, we’re also sharing rooms and common spaces, and keeping it women-only helps create a sense of ease and comfort for everyone attending.

  • We understand that everyone has responsibilities at home and may need to check in with family from time to time. This is a retreat for adults with full lives, not a tech detox.

We simply ask that phones and devices not be brought into silence spaces (sitting sessions, meals, talks, etc.) and remain in your room during those times.

If you’d like to check messages privately in your room, or take photos out in the woods during free time, that’s completely fine.
